Music at Saint Peter’s

Music is an important part of our Sunday worship in which the Sung Eucharist enhances the much loved and vital words of the Service.

Musical Director Graeme Robertson is our principal organist

At the Parish functions we have had a chance to hear the talented singers and musicians of our Church, as well as the children who study music and dancing. We sing the Mass at most 7.00am services and other special occasions, and rehearse on Friday evening from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. The congregational responses show that our contribution is appreciated.  If you would like to join us we would be delighted to hear from you

Sunday School

The Sunday School is a dynamic multi-age format catering for those between the ages of 3 to 12.

The Sunday School meets weekly, excepting school holidays, in the Undercroft of the Church, joining the congregation for the commencement of the 9.30 am service, returning for communion and other activities.

bulletBirthday Club - Held once a month for all the children who have had a Birthday during this time. A card will be given and there will be party food for all the children to enjoy Activities-There are activities which cater for all ages and interests.
bulletMusic-for all ages.
bulletGames and quizzes
bullet Bible Stories-Bible stories are read to the children or acted out in a way where children can participate, learn and have fun.
bulletPrayer -During each Sunday there is a time set aside for prayer. Here the children may want to say a prayer or request that the leader pray for someone or something. This activity encourages children to pray, learn how to pray and to talk to God through prayer.
bulletWorship-At the beginning of the 9:30am service the children will be in the church where there will be a child friendly hymn and then a child will be invited to the front of the church to light a candle. The children will then follow the child holding the candle to the Undercroft where they will participate in activities, games etc. The children will then come back to the Church during the offertory hymn. Two children carry an offertory basket and every week one child is chosen to help at the Altar during Communion, suitably gowned. This is a great way for the children to participate in Communion and the preparation of Communion. All other children will receive a blessing or Communion (if they are eligible) and will then go back to the Undercroft or Parish Centre to finish their activities and have morning tea. If your child has not been admitted to Holy Communion, they receive a tiny teddy biscuit and a scripture verse sticker of card.
bulletMorning tea A light morning tea is served to the children after the service around 10:30am. Morning tea is available for adults/parents in the Parish Centre after the service for a donation.
bullet Playground-St. Peter's has a play ground where the children are welcome to play with supervision. After Sunday School and morning tea children will have the opportunity to play on the equipment. Leaders have experience in teaching, child care and religious education.

Classes for Admission to Holy Communion and Confirmation are held regularly.  Father Harry prepares his students carefully for the next phase of their Christian lives when they regularly share in the Holy Sacrament.

Religious Education in the Schools

Our Parish works together with the other Christian churches in our area on combined activities, including the support of the ministry in the four local State Schools (Primary and Secondary).

The Guild of All Souls is a group of Parishioners who intercede in prayer for the dying and for the repose of the souls of the departed and who promote the two great doctrines of the Christian Creed: “The Communion of Saints” and “The Resurrection of the Dead”. A Requiem Service is held on the first Monday of each month at 7.30pm.  The Guild prepares and serves a light supper after the Service. If you would like a loved one remembered at the monthly Requiem please contact the Parish Office (Ph.: 55 328 978)

 Hospital Chaplaincy

St. Peter's is actively involved in visiting and ministering to those who are in hospital. If you are hospitalised or have a friend or family member who you feel may like a visit it is important that you or the person you know inform the hospital on entry that they are an Anglican, or request that they be visited by an Anglican minister.  Communion is available to those in hospital.

For information contact the Church Off ice on telephone number  5532 8978 9.00 am to 11.30am week days

Prayer Groups

This ministry of intercession is deeply appreciated.  It presents a special opportunity for Christian ministry to people who are not able to be physically active or who are shy about doing things in public.  If you want to be part of this ministry, or to ask for prayer for yourself or someone else, make it known to the Parish Priest.

Nursing Home Visits

Staff and church members regularly visit Nursing Homes in our area.  A Communion Service is often held, however, a minister will be pleased to visit if you ask.  Please contact the Parish Office: 5532 8978

Home Communions

In cases of illness or infirmity parishioners may wish for Holy Communion to be available in their home.  Our Clergy are only too pleased to be called upon to provide this ministry.  If you, or one of your relatives would like Holy Communion to be celebrated in your/their home please contact the Parish office.

Parish Council

The Diocesan Canons provide that “the Parish Council is responsible for the management of the property and the business affairs of the parish.”  It also assists and advises the Parish Priest in planning, organising and carrying out the pastoral, teaching and evangelistic ministry. Our Parish Council normally meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday evening. Members are appointed at the Annual Meeting of Parishioners, which is held in February.
